"Taking a Break"

This buck often wanders down from a ridge, crosses a meadow and stops for a rest in the speckeled shade of the aspens and spruce near my home. He mostly comes alone, but sometimes another buck joins him. He use to shift nervously when I was out in the garden, but now he barely seems to notice when I'm nearby. 

"Snowmass Summer"

Lupine are in their full, periwinkel bloom in early summer around Snowmass. Here, in a meadow near the village, Mount Daly peaks out between aspen trees above a spray of wild lupine.
